Why Arkadon Exists

What kind of hero keeps moving forward when everything has been taken away?
The earliest version of Arkadon was created decades ago as part of a much larger vision. Over time, that vision evolved into a universe filled with distant worlds, ancient mysteries, unlikely friendships, and heroes forced to confront impossible choices. Yet at its heart, the story has always remained surprisingly simple: ordinary and extraordinary people finding the strength to stand against darkness when giving up would be easier.
Arkadon exists because the stories that inspired it never truly left. How The Fracture Began
Pieces of ARKADON have been with me since 1997: character lists, episode ideas, lines of dialogue, and notes I kept over the years. I knew my lead character, understood the premise, and had a sense of where the story would end. For a long time, those pieces stayed buried.
An exercise in an online generative AI course helped me begin assembling them. After that first session, I had the foundation of a novel. As I brought in my own dialogue and developed the characters and scenes, the story grew beyond what I had first imagined.
I used AI as a creative editing assistant and brainstorming partner throughout the process, including to generate prose that appears in The Fracture. Over the following months, I revisited decisions, refined the story, and shaped it around the cinematic vision I’d carried for the book.
The book didn’t come from AI. It came from me. AI helped me bring a story I’d carried for years into focus. The ideas, creative decisions, and determination to finish it were mine.
